MAFN's May 21st Online Workshop: The Creative Force of Resistance - a Gestalt Perspective for Working with Groups

  • 05/21/2021
  • 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Online using Zoom

Registration

Duration: 3-hour workshop (includes a little networking time)

About the workshop:

Resistance is a natural and inevitable part of any group process, occurring whenever people anticipate change or confront boundaries. Rather than seeing resistance as an obstacle, we can use it as a way of supporting the work of the group, promoting healthy and productive engagement that allows them to bring their work to a close.

By participating in this session, you will learn about the Gestalt perspective on resistance and ways you can use this to increase your effectiveness as a facilitator. You will be better equipped to help groups engage productively with resistance, resulting in improved outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Heighten awareness of the different forms that resistance might take, and how to distinguish those variations.
  • Learn approaches to creatively engage with resistance at the level of self, individual, and the group.
  • Gain appreciation of resistance as a normal part of any successful intervention.

This is a 3-hour online workshop. It will take place from 12:00pm to 3pm EST.
