MAFN's October 15th Online Workshop: Belonging in the Virtual Space

  • 10/15/2021
  • 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
  • Online using Zoom

Registration

Duration: 90-minute workshop

About the workshop

If belonging would be a taste, a smell, or a texture for you, what would it be and why? As a huge concept, belonging can mean different things to different people. And how does belonging actually work in the virtual space? How can we become aware of the diverse elements tied to belonging, and with awareness and integrity step in our position of power in cultivating conditions which enhance people’s sense of belonging? As belonging is a fertile ground for identities to (trans)form. In this experiential workshop, Sara invites you to explore a framework which combines concepts from the East and the West. We won't be using Miro/Mural, but old fashioned pen & paper to activate hand-eye coordination and sink into the space of self reflection. So bring your whole self and be prepared to discover different parts of yourself and of others too.

NOTE: This workshop will be recorded for distribution to all who register.

Learning Objectives

In this session, participants will:

  • Explore elements tied to a huge concept such as belonging

  • Play with the presented elements in your own way (solo reflections and small group interactions)

  • Reflect on how we as facilitators can step into our position of power in cultivating conditions which enhance people’s sense of belonging

This is a 90-minute online workshop. It will take place from 12:00pm to 1:30pm EDT.

Speaker:

Sara Huang (Bureau Tw!st) creates spaces for difficult conversations, verbalising and owning discomfort to enable growth and transformation. Her work is influenced and informed by Deep Democracy (Process Oriented Psychology & the Lewis Method), the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Method, (making the abstract tangible and concrete), Art of Hosting, Theory U, visual facilitation, and the experience she gains from every engagement she facilitates. She is a heart-based consultant and human-centered facilitator. She becomes alive when she gets to craft spaces for people to recharge, reimagine and reshape a better future together.
